Mariachi
Mariachi (Cocktail Bar)

Mariachi is Margate’s Mexican-inspired cocktail bar, specialising in tequila, mezcal, and all things agave, with a focus on premium, additive-free products and fresh ingredients.

This year, they are teaming up with Daryl Smith of Specialty Brands for a tequila tasting with a twist. Sample at least six different tequilas from industry-leading brands, Tapatio and Don Fulano, while exploring different production processes and terroir-driven flavour profiles of these premium products. Guests will be encouraged to pay attention and play along with their tequila bingo card for a chance to win even more boozy prizes!

Daisy Rollo: Coffee workshop

Daisy Rollo will give an introduction to the world of speciality coffee, from farm to cup. Learn what it takes to produce the perfect cup of coffee, from it’s cultivation and terroir to processing methods, roasting and finally perfect extraction. A tasting flight of coffee will be served, with a tasting note pairing exercise.

She also offers training in Ramsgate, as well as consultancy and delivering mobile speciality coffee bars around the UK and Europe. She has a history of visiting coffee plantations around the world to understand the product at source. @coffeaarabica.co.uk

Ryan Jacovides opened Pomus in The Centre in Margate this summer. The cosy neighbourhood wine bar and restaurant serves creative small plates, made using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, paired with exquisite wines from Kent and the rest of the world.

At the demonstration, Ryan and his team will show you how they create some of their delicious small plates, whilst pouring a signature aperitivo to pair with the dish

Alex Prymaka and Josh Longstaff share a passion for great wine, good food and fantastic hospitality. Those values became the foundation of No. 1 Oscar Road Wine Bar in Broadstairs. While they are currently searching for their new home, they will be running and hosting pop-ups across Thanet and Kent.

The couple will be hosting an exciting blind tasting session with six different wines, so join them to put your taste buds and palate to the test. It may sound intimidating to the uninitiated, but it’s one of the most fun and interactive ways of tasting - and there will be a few games to play along the way too.

No experience necessary - just a love of good wine!

The Perfect Place to Grow

A project established by Ani James, Lee Coad (Angela’s/Dory’s) and Harry Ryder, (Bottega Caruso), The Perfect Place to Grow is a training kitchen based in Margate that supports 18-24-year-olds not in education or employment into work. The charity partners with guest chefs from all over the country to curate exciting menus that can be used to teach skills and create sustainable paths for the future. Together, they create unique dining experiences that showcase how important food can be in inspiring both the diners and most importantly, the young people.

Expect a four-course menu, filled with passion, creativity and love, prepared and served by the trainees in collaboration with a guest chef. The wine for the dinner will be curated by Harry and Lee and will feature an exciting line-up of natural and classic wines that match perfectly with the dinner. This will be an event not to be missed.

The Foreign Embassy

Serial feasters The Foreign Embassy make their debut at the Broadstairs Food Festival this year, taking your tastebuds on a journey along our beautiful coastline for a meal to remember.

Lorenzo, Dave and Jo have created inventive one-off banquets in heritage locations from Dickens’ Bleak House to the Home for Smack Boys and the Italianate Glasshouse, each one bringing people and appetites together around a single table.

This menu will be based around local seafood and seasonal produce, but details will remain a secret. The feast will take place in the festival theatre marquee. Tickets will be limited. And the first rule of The Foreign Embassy is to come hungry.
